An unexpected journey

I’m excited to share with you my recent work “An unexpected jorney” I created this painting over 3 weeks and it is the 3rd in my new series exploring the beyond in us all. New worlds, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, new friendships and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our universe.

Journal entry #23
After leaving the Antiles having docked at the city island of Psion we made our way across the metropolis by public conveyance to Substation 1.

Here we would board a shuttle to ride the tether to a mining colony on Casanosis the smaller earth-like moon which orbited Carillon with its 3 sister satellites.

We watched in awe as the elongated sphere glided away from the station the warm red glow of the ocean beneath us dwindling to a smooth surface then hidden by pink and white clouds as we headed into the stratosphere.

After 30 minutes we could see the curvature of the planet and arrived shortly after at the busy waystation awaiting our connection 2 hours later.

As we sat in the well appointed cafe little did we suspect what was about to happen.

I vaguely remember feeling drowsy and slurring my words as I mentioned to Rayna that I was feeling sleepy and might take a nap. She also appeared to be struggling to stay keep her eyes open, I laid my head on my arms on the table in front of me and darkness quickly descended.

Hours maybe days later I woke slowly, my head foggy with the effects of what I now realised was a powerful sleeping draft. I was in a dark small room and Rayna lay beside me still unconscious. I tried to wake her but to no avail.

A voice suddenly spoke from the speaker high on the opposite wall.

We’ve been watching you and your partner for several days now Miss Ravenscroft and there is much we need to discuss.

I waited for more, but the speaker on the wall remained silent…
